Fast-Growing Ground Cover How To Grow In colder climates, start seeds indoors 6-8 weeks before last expected frost. Seeds should be pressed into soil but not covered: light is needed for germination. Keep seeds moist until germination. After germination, reduce watering and grow seedlings in a sunny window location. For warmer climates, seeds can be started directly outdoors in a prepared seedbed after frost danger. Deadhead spent blooms to promote growth of more flowers.
